The Word of the Lord in the Books Genesis and Samuel - Old Testament

So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. (Genesis 1:27) But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7)

The Word of the Lord in the Books of James and John - New Testament:.

But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. (James 2:9)

Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:9-24)

Dearly Beloved Sisters and Brothers,

Can we look at anyone's motives, can we look at one's heart? Sometimes I look over my life, and many Non-Christians, or people who don't believe like myself, can be blessed and have miracles occur in their lives as I would when I pray and God answers prayers in my life.

My husband and I are having a talk now about how in the past "The Miracle of the Seagulls" could occur when in my mind it occured in a church which I don't believe their doctrine is pure. Why is it that Roman Catholics are being visited by the Holy Virgin Mary, who, in my own opinion, was a very righteous and virtuous woman who should be held in honor among all people. However I don't feel that the Bible teaches that she can in any way interceed to God the Father for us. I can go through many examples, and hopefully not to put anyone's faith down, PLEASE I DON'T INTEND THAT! I am an evangelical charismatic Christian, and my views on Scripture, and my interpretation probably isn't going to match up with others who also are in my faith! I'm only saying as Paul says we as humans have blinders on. We see through a glass darkly but when we get to heaven, then we will see in full.

Remember the Samaritan Woman, and how Jesus approached her for a drink of water? Well at first she was stunned. Imagine, living back in the pre-civil rights days, when there was hatred, and still is, between the races. It blew her over when Jesus even talked to her in a civilized manner!! After Jesus got the lady's trust she began to ask "Why Master do some worship over here, some there," Well Jesus explained that God is Spirit and true worshippers must worship Him in Spirit and truth. There is alot of nuggets in the passage concerning the miracle of the "Living Water". This lady was blessed to get a drink of the it!

The point of my first writing is to grab your attention. Dear Brothers and Sisters, please listen. There is creeping into the body of Christ a spirit of division and legalism that displeases God and grieves the Holy Spirit.

Recently a dear friend of mine was shunned by a Christian womens' group because she is a bit different. She is a woman who ministers to people the Lord has led to her, and those people are not your everyday kind of person. People who have been hurt and wounded by the Church, those who have occult interests or have found acceptance among those of a more intellectual nature - introverts, poets, artists, witches, abused and lonely people who would not feel comfortable confiding in most Christians because they too judge by outward appearances. She has done the Lords will in her mind, yet there remain a few people who insist on spending God's time "evaluating her ministry" and condemning her choice of outreach. In 12-step programs, one of the steps is to take your OWN inventory, that means checking our own spirit for sins and weaknesses and then praying that the Lord Jesus will deliver us, well in this case these people are taking my FRIEND'S inventory for her.

When Christians begin "Fruit Inspecting" and concerning themselves more with what they consider to be the "errors" in other brothers and sisters, they are not worshiping the our Lord in spirit or in truth. Why? Aren't we to speak the truth in love? Of course we are, but I've heard alot of so-called truth in my 28 years and it's not been with love. You see dear family, we can't have truth if it's not with God's love. It's a cop out to go to friends or even total strangers with a "Word from the Lord" even if we are quoting the Bible directly. Love is patient, kind, longsuffering, gentle, and all those other things described in I Corinthians chapter 13. When we insist that someone change their ways NOW, and don't pray to the Holy Spirit to first convict that person, then we aren't speaking to them in truth. To worship God in truth and love we must first examine our OWN hearts, our OWN motives, and our OWN lives, removing the beam of wood from our own eyes before we can even begin to think that we have the right to reprove others for the plank in their own.

I can copy and paste the entire Holy Bible in any version you like, but that is not truth. It is just so many words on a piece of paper unless the Holy Spirit speaks it to you and causes it to become the living and breathing words of life in your heart. We all must take a fresh new taste of that "Living Water" and breathe in the Spirit of God so that we can speak out to the lost, and to each other, the all powerful, "Living Word" of God, and more importantly, call upon the Holy Spirit to empower us as living epistles to the world. This my friends is what makes our life a ministry and is how one worships God in spirit and in truth.
